A rather wobbly walk through of 56006. Highlights are Start in No2 cab Past the cubicle ( note the tarpaulin inside the loco to stop condensation getting into the electricals) Me struggling to open the compartment door. Past the Alternators , check the oil pressure gauge on the Woodward Governor. At 29 secs straight ahead is the Tractive Effort control box. At 35 secs we check the sight glass on the Hydrostatic oil reservoir. At around 45 secs we look straight up and check the coolant gauge on t

Another visit today and we started the loco up again and checked it got the brake pipe up and then took power both directions in both cabs. After running for an hour or so we started to prepare the tarpaulin to go over the roof at No 2 end. We shut the engine down , put the covers back on the start relays and pulled the tarp up and over the roof and secured it ti the loco body. We then took all 9 electronic modules out of the electronics rack for warm storage. We will continue to visit the loco

🚂 Remember The Grid? The Mighty Class 56 Locomotive ⚙️ In the golden age of British Rail freight, the Class 56 was the workhorse of the network—hauling coal, steel, and heavy loads with over 3,250 horsepower of diesel thunder. Nicknamed “The Grid” because of its iconic horn grille, this beast powered the UK’s industrial heart through the '70s, '80s and beyond. 💥 But did you know the first 30 were built in Romania... and nearly doomed the whole class due to poor construction? 🇬🇧 It wasn’t unt

Another day working on 56006. A small team spent the day replacing a defective main reservoir isolating cock. ( that's the yellow one on the buffer beam- see photos). Then adjusting a door latch and checking the rotation on one if the AC machines after a repair. Then some checks on the air pressure being sent to the engine governor from both drivers controllers in both cabs. This involved putting the loco into Maintenance mode ,which allowed the power unit to run up to full powered setting but w
